The city buses in Örebro should be an attractive alternative for those who are travelling today. The city buses must also be ready for what the future brings. The new route network will have more efficient routes and more frequent departures. That, together with the introduction of Citylinjen, makes the new route network faster, simpler and more sustainable.

We are working on the details of the new city route network and are not finished. We therefore reserve the right for changes in tour intervals and other details.

We are introducing Citylinjen together with the new route network

In addition to the new route network, we are also introducing Citylinjen, which is two routes that have:

  • 5-minute service in peak traffic between the stops Tegnérlunden and Universitetsplatsen
  • 10-minute rush hour traffic from outlying areas
  • Buses with a different design and which are powered by electricity
  • Buses with boarding at all doors
  • Special bus lanes most of the route
  • Special stops with a different design

12 route numbers become 7

In the new route network, we will merge several of the routes and focus on fewer routes that go more often. Today's 12 route numbers will become 7 routes, but with the same number of buses and more frequent departures. The new routes are:

  1. Vivalla - Resecentrum - Brickebacken
  2. Mellringe - Resecentrum - Universitetet
  3. Lundby - Resecentrum - Solhaga
  4. Grenadjärstaden - Resecentrum - Marieberg
  5. Hovsta - Resecentrum - Tybble
  6. Björkhaga - Resecentrum - Universitetet
  7. Lillån - Resecentrum - Mosås

Changes to stops

There will be changes to the stops included in the new routes network. Here are some examples of the changes:

  • Resecentrum Örebro will continue to serve as the central interchange point for all routes.
    • This is to facilitate transfers between buses, buses and trains, and other modes of transport.
  • There will be a stop at Stortorget again, fulfilling the wishes of the city's residents.
  • At the University Hospital, buses will stop at several locations.
    • For route 4: The bus will stop at the main entrance of the M building.
    • For route 6: The bus will stop at Södra Grev Rosengatan, entrance H-huset, and the Emergency Department.
  • The Gustavsvik area will have a new stop: Klerkgatan.

We will relocate some stops between routes to streamline the route sections. Additionally, some stops will be removed to reduce travel time.

Increase the number of trips with faster and more frequent traffic

We want to increase the number of travellers and also the number of trips with public transport. Therefore, we are implementing the change in the route network for Örebro. Things that will contribute to achieving the goals include:

  • Simpler route stretches and more frequent departures that contribute to a robust and reliable route network.
  • Boarding at all doors on Citylinjen results in faster traffic.
  • Signal prioritization already exists today for all city buses, but contributes to faster travel.
  • The buses will go more often where the travel is greatest.
  • Resources will be redistributed to cope with today's capacity problems - all to avoid overcrowded buses.
