School Card Junior - Grundskolekort

The primary school card is for students from preschool class to grade 9 in primary school or special needs primary school. It is valid if you are entitled to free school travel according to your municipality's school transport regulations.

  • Validity and price

    With the Primary School Card, you can travel:

    • On weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 04:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
    • From August 14, 2024, to June 13, 2025.
    • By city or regional bus to and from school.
    • By Närtrafik.

    You cannot travel:

    • During school holidays, such as autumn break, Christmas break, winter break, Easter break, and other public holidays.
    • By train.

    The Primary School Card is valid:

    • For the student the card is issued to.
    • With correctly filled-out information on the back:
      • The school the student attends.
      • The student’s full name.
      • The student’s date of birth (YY-MM-DD).

    The municipality where the student is registered for residency pays for the primary school card. If your child leaves school, changes schools, or moves, you, as the guardian, must apply for a new primary school card. The old card must then be returned immediately.

  • Lost School Card Junior

    If the student has lost their primary school card, they can get a replacement. You, as the guardian, or the student should immediately contact the school office to request a replacement card. The old card will be deactivated right away.

    If you or the student received the primary school card directly from us, the student or guardian can contact our customer service.

    If the Grundskolekort is broken or damaged, it must be replaced immediately if the card is no longer usable.

  • Forgot School Card Junior

    If the student has forgotten their school card at home, they should contact the school office or their class teacher during the school day to receive a temporary loan card. The loan card must be returned the next school day. If the student does not have a card, they must purchase a single ticket for the bus journey.

  • School Card Junior for a new academic year

    As a guardian, you need to apply for a new Grundskolekort for your child before each new school year. This application is made through the respective municipality.

    Students whose application is approved by the municipality will receive a card for the upcoming school year. The card will be sent either by mail or distributed at school during the first days of the term.

School Card Senior - Gymnasiekort

The high school card is for high school students in Örebro County who are enrolled in a full-time program for the 2024/2025 academic year. The card is valid until the spring term of the year you turn 20 and is personal.

Your eligibility for a high school card depends on:

  • where in the county you live,
  • the distance to your school.

  • Validity and price

    With gymnasiekortet, you can travel:

    • On weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 04:30 AM to 7:00 PM. The last train or bus change must take place by 7:00 PM.
    • From August 14, 2024, to June 13, 2025.
    • On all regional, express, and city buses within Örebro County.
    • On Närtrafik.
    • By train within the county if you are traveling with:
      • Tåg i Bergslagen (TiB)
      • Västtågen/Kinnekulletåget
      • SJ Regional

    With gymnasiekortet, you can travel across county borders to the following locations:

    • Arboga - Lindesberg with bus route 351
    • Filipstad - Kristinehamn with bus route 400 (Värmlandstrafik)
    • Filipstad - Hällefors with bus route 407 (Värmlandstrafik)
    • Grängesberg - Kopparberg with bus route 360
    • Grängesberg with Tåg i Bergslagen
    • Götlunda - Glanshammar with bus route 230
    • Kristinehamn - Karlskoga with bus route 500 (Värmlandstrafik)
    • Kristinehamn with city buses (Värmlandstrafik)

    For gymnasiekortet to be valid, you must fill in the correct information on the back:

    • The school you attend
    • Your full name
    • Your date of birth (YY-MM-DD)

    If the card is not filled out correctly, it may be revoked. You, as a high school student or the guardian, may be subject to an additional fee.

    Ticket Control

    It is the municipality that pays for your high school card. If studies are discontinued, the card must be returned to the school immediately.

  • Lost School Card Senior

    As a student, you must pay for your travel to and from school until you have arranged for a new card.

    Tips on how to buy a single ticket

    You can obtain a new card for an administrative fee. You can do this at the school office. The fee varies depending on the school you attend.

    The old high school card will be deactivated and can no longer be used.

  • Defected School Card Senior

    If the card is broken or damaged, it must be replaced immediately if it is no longer usable. You should then contact the school office to replace your high school card. Until you have arranged for a new high school card, you will need to pay for your own travel.

  • Forgotten School Card Senior

    If you have forgotten your school card at home or at school, you will need to buy your own ticket.

    You can purchase a single ticket from the bus or train operator directly. Be sure to keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

  • Confiscated School Card Senior

    If you have not signed your School Card Senior properly, your School Card Senior may be confiscated. This means you will have to collect it from our Customer Service at Resecentrum in Örebro.

    Bring the receipt issued by the ticket inspector along with valid photo ID. If a School Card Senior is misused it will not be returned.

    You might need to wait one workday for your School Card Senior to be ready for pickup at our Customer Center. We won't cover any costs if it gets confiscated.

  • For a new academic year

    You get your School Card senior the first days of school. You who already go to school should save your old School Card Senior over the summer. Until you receive your new card, the following applies:

    • If you start year 1 of gymnasiet, you travel on the temporary travel document that is sent to you together with the admission letter.
      • You must print out the temporary travel document in order for it to be valid on the journey.
    • If you start year 2 or 3 in gymnasiet, you travel on your old School Card senior for the first two weeks. That card does not work in the card reader, but you must show it to the bus driver.

    If you lose your School Card Senior during the summer, you can pick up a new card from the school office. You will have to pay a service charge when picking up the new School Card Senior. You will also need to pay for your trips until you get the new card.

Extended validity and Temporary high school card

We offer extended validity in Kumla Municipality and Degerfors Municipality. We also provide a temporary high school card that schools can purchase to complement the standard high school card.

Extended validity for School Card Senior
  • Temporary School Card Senior

    Upper secondary schools can give students a Temporary School Card Senior (Tillfälligt Gymnasiekort). This card is intended for travelling to and from school during hours outside the regular school schedule.

    These can be occasions such as an open house for the school during the evening or weekends.

    Validity and price: Monday - Friday, excluding public holidays, from 7.00 pm until services end that day. Saturday and holidays throughout the day. The Temporary School Card senior is valid for one day. You obtain a temporary School Card Senior from the school, which orders them from our Customer Service. 

    Area: In the same geographical area as a School Card Senior. It is only valid together with your School Card Senior. You must show the Temporary School Card Senior to the bus driver or on-board staff.

  • Extended validity for Municipality of Kumla

    Students registered in Kumla municipality get extended validity on their School Card Senior. That means you can travel between 7.00 pm and 10.00 pm on the days when the School Card Senior is normally valid.

    Other time during the validity period for ordinary School Card Senior, it is the ordinary card that applies.

    This extended validity was introduced with the start of the spring semester in 2021 and for five years from its introduction.

  • Extended validity in the municipality of Degerfors

    Students registered in Degerfors municipality get an extended validity on their School Card Senior. The same applies for a any student at Degerforsgymnasiet.

    The extended validity is an extra School Card Senior. You can use it:

    • 7.00 pm and 10.00 pm on the days when the School Card Senior is normally valid.
    • Around the clock Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. 

Prao ticket

Schools can purchase Prao tickets directly from our customer service. The ticket is intended for students who need to travel to internship activities by bus and do not have a primary or high school card. The internship ticket is only valid for the student it is issued to.

  • Validity city

    The prao ticket is available in two variants. With the city validity, you can travel to and from your internship activity using the city bus in Karlskoga, Lindesberg, or Örebro. You can also travel with the regional bus within Karlskoga city and Karlskoga municipality. Additionally, you can travel with Närtrafik in Karlskoga municipality.

    Make sure to show the ticket and internship certificate every time you board the bus.

  • Validity county

    The prao ticket is available in two variants. The variant for the entire Örebro County allows you to travel to and from your internship activity using all our city and regional buses within Örebro County. You can also travel with Närtrafik.

    You can also travel across county borders by bus to:
