You need to scan or tap your ticket every time you board a bus or train. There are several ways to scan or tap your ticket. The most convenient method depends on where you have your ticket and which mode of transport you are using.

  • Ticket in the app

    In the app, you can find your current tickets by:

    • Tapping "More" in the menu
    • Selecting "Tickets"
    • Tapping the ticket you want to use for your journey

    You must be logged in to view your period tickets. Be sure to have your ticket ready before you board the bus or train.

    Travel with city bus in Örebro and Citylinjen

    On our city buses in Örebro, you can scan your ticket either with the driver or in the ticket reader on the bus. If you're travelling with Citylinjen, you can board through any door and scan your ticket there.

    When scanning your ticket with the driver, hold your phone vertically with the QR code facing the reader. Keep it there until you see a confirmation on the ticket reader and hear a beep. You don't need to inform the driver or press anything before scanning your ticket.

    When scanning your ticket in one of the ticket readers on the bus, hold the ticket horizontally under the reader. Position it against the heel, with the QR code facing up toward the reader. You don’t need to press anything before scanning the ticket. Keep your phone against the reader until you see a smiley face on the screen. The scan will then be approved.

    Travel with city bus in Karlskoga and Lindesberg

    On our city buses in Karlskoga and Lindesberg, you can scan your ticket with the driver. When scanning your ticket with the driver, hold your phone vertically with the QR code facing the reader. Keep it there until you see a confirmation on the ticket reader and hear a beep. You don't need to inform the driver or press anything before scanning your ticket.

    Travel with regional and express buses

    On our regional and express buses, you can scan your ticket with the driver. Hold your phone vertically with the QR code facing the reader. Keep it there until you see a message on the ticket reader saying that the ticket is approved and you hear a beep. You don't need to inform the driver or press anything before scanning your ticket.

    Travel by train

    If you already have a ticket, you need to scan it in one of the yellow ticket machines on the platforms. Do this before boarding the train.

    You will either need to show your ticket's QR code to be scanned by the onboard staff or allow them to check the ticket's details manually. The onboard staff will ask you to show your ticket.

    Travel with Närtrafik

    When traveling with Närtrafik, show your ticket in the app to the driver when they pick you up.

  • Ticket on a Travel card

    You can load tickets and travel credit onto a Travel card. With travel credit, you can purchase tickets onboard our buses, at sales agents, or at ticket machines on the platform. If you are travelling with a business-specific Travel card, you do so in the same way as if you purchased a ticket with Travel credit.

    Travel with city bus in Örebro or Citylinjen

    On our city buses in Örebro, you can scan your Travel card either with the driver or at the ticket reader inside the bus. If you're travelling with Citylinjen, you can board through any door and scan your Travel card there.

    If you want to scan your ticket with the driver, hold your Travel card up to the reader located on the top of the ticket machine. Hold it there until you see a message on the ticket reader indicating the ticket is approved, and hear a beep confirming the ticket. You don't need to inform the driver or press anything before scanning the ticket.

    If you want to scan your already purchased ticket at the ticket reader inside the bus, hold your Travel card up to the reader on the lower part of the ticket reader. You don't need to press anything before scanning the ticket. Hold the card against the reader until you see a smiling face on the screen, indicating that the scan has been approved.

Hold it there until you see a message on the ticket reader indicating the ticket is approved, and hear a beep confirming the ticket. You don't need to inform the driver or press anything before scanning the ticket.

    Travel with regional or express bus

    You scan your ticket with the driver by holding your card against the reader located on the top of the ticket machine. Hold it there until you see a message on the reader indicating that the ticket is approved. You will also hear a beep when the ticket is accepted. You do not need to notify the driver or press anything before scanning the ticket.

    Travel by train

    If you already have a ticket, you need to scan it at one of the yellow ticket machines on the platform. Hold your travel card against the card reader under the display. Keep it there until you see a confirmation message on the screen. You should do this before boarding the train.

    Once onboard, you will either need to have your travel card scanned by the on board staff or show your travel card along with the corresponding receipt. The on board staff will ask you to display your ticket.

    Travel with Närtrafik

    When travelling with Närtrafik, you should show your ticket, along with the corresponding receipt, to the driver who picks you up.

  • School tickets

    The most common way to have your school or high school ticket is on a school card, but some other school tickets are on paper. You can scan your school card in the ticket machine, while you need to show a paper ticket to the driver.

    Once on board, you will need to either have your school card scanned by the on board staff or show your school card along with the receipt. The on board staff will ask you to present your ticket.

    If you are traveling with a temporary high school ticket, you need to show the ticket to the staff on board.

    Travel with Närtrafik

    When travelling with Närtrafik, you need to show your school card to the driver who picks you up.

  • Tickets over county boarder

    Several of our tickets are valid across county borders with other transport companies.

    Information about our ticket collaborations

    If you are travelling with a ticket in the app, show your ticket and have it scanned or checked by the onboard staff.

    If you are travelling with a ticket loaded on a travel card, you should show the travel card along with the receipt to the onboard staff. The same applies if you are travelling with a school card or a paper ticket.

  • Other tickets

    If you are travelling with a ticket that is not available in our app, on a travel card, or a school card, you will need to get assistance from the driver onboard the bus. You will need to do this regardless of which bus you are travelling on. The driver will help you with your ticket.

Broken ticket machine

If the ticket machine onboard the bus is broken, try another machine or show your ticket to the driver. If you are traveling with a travel card, please bring the purchase receipt and show it to the driver.

If a ticket machine at the platform is broken, you can use one of the others available at the station.
